What if a quartet of four famous Wonderland characters - the Mad Hatter, Cheshire Cat, Caterpillar, and Dormouse - were special agents in service of the Queen of Hearts? That’s the plot Play’n GO has set out in the third slot in its Wonderland-themed series, Queen of Hearts. There’s even more to this story, as you need to seek out the three keys needed to unlock the queen’s heart. Will you manage to find them? Spin the reels on this unique cluster slot, and the keys might bring about a full flurry of special features. Intrigued? We sure are, so join us down the rabbit hole in our Agent of Hearts slot review.
Agent of Hearts is a cluster slot, with wins formed by landing at least 5 matching symbols in vertically or horizontally adjacent positions on the grid. Speaking of the grid, this is 7x7 in size although 6 positions in the top middle portions have been removed to make space for the locked Queen’s heart. Heading back to the clusters, any symbols forming one will be removed from the grid. This leads to a cascade as new symbols drop to fill the empty spaces. If this brings about more winning clusters then the cascade process repeats until there are no more wins in view.
Play’n GO complicates things when it comes to the RTP, as this can vary between slot games. The most common RTP we’ve seen is 96.25%, which is fairly generous, but we’ve found it can be as low as 84.26%. The same goes for the wagering range, which starts from £0.10 but can reach up to either £10.00 or £100.00. It ultimately all depends on your online casino, so always check the game’s About section and wagering range to make sure they suit your tastes and pockets.
One thing that doesn’t vary between online casinos is Agent of Hearts’ maximum win - this is capped at 5262.5x the stake. Should you manage to reach this amount through the game’s various bonus features then the spin will end immediately, with the game awarding you your payout before returning to the regular spins.

Play’n GO is a reliable name as far as great looking slots go, and Agent of Hearts is no exception in this case. The beautifully painted interpretation of the Wonderland stories found here should prove familiar if you’ve played Rabbit Hole Riches or Court of Hearts, even if this time around we’re treated to a background of mysterious floating islands adorned with cupcakes and soaring teapots. That should prove par for the Wonderland course, right?
The grid holds 8 different paying symbols. The 4 characters - the Mad Hatter, Cheshire Hat, Caterpillar, and Dormouse are the high pays. You’ll also find them in animated form on the left-hand side of the grid together with their meters, so keep a close eye on them! As for the low pays, these are the gems in green, purple, blue and yellow. The heart wilds can substitute for all symbols except the key. Land 3 of this on the same spin to unleash a a special free spin!

Like other modern Play’n GO slots, Agent of Hearts runs perfectly on smartphones and tablets. This makes sense, it’s been developed using HTML5, a technology that allows providers to build games that are playable on internet browsers. Better still, you don’t even need to download any additional software to do so! The game does look a bit cramped when played in portrait mode on smartphones, so we recommend checking it out in landscape mode for the full visual experience.
Agent of Hearts features no less than 4 game modifiers triggered by filling the character meters with 6 of the corresponding symbols. There’s also a free spin to be had if you land 3 key symbols anywhere on the grid. Let’s go through what these bonuses involve, shall we?
You’ll notice the meters on the left-hand side of the screen when playing Agent of Hearts. These fill up whenever you form wins with the corresponding character’s symbol. Win with 6 of the character’s symbols to activate their special feature! Here’s what these involve:
Agent Features are triggered once all the spin’s winning combinations and cascades are over. In addition, any random spin might see the White Rabbit appear on the screen. This will award you with a random Agent Feature!
Landing 3 keys on the same spin unlocks the Queen’s Heart, which in turn awards you with a free spin. However this is no ordinary spin, as this has all 4 Agent Features mentioned above play out one after the other. In addition, when all of the features are over a Mega Wild that’s 3x2 in size will be added to the grid for potentially even more winnings. Once this spin is over you’ll be returned back to the regular spins.
You’ve got to give it to Play’n GO - they know how to make a good cluster slot and a great Wonderland game, meaning Agent of Hearts is a fantastic option if you want a bit of one and a bit of the other. It looks great, the win potential is solid, and the high volatility means you’ll be constantly anticipating some absolutely epic spins.
That said we do have two issues with this game, one minor and the other less so. The Agent Features are, perhaps, a bit samey, especially when one considers the wacky Wonderland characters they are based on. Second is the variable RTP. Do you really want to go look around at different online casinos to find the version with the best RTP? This wouldn’t have been such a great deal if the RTP didn’t vary that much, but there is quite a difference between 84.26% and 96.25%, at least in our opinion.
Still, Agent of Hearts is great fun, and we wouldn’t mind see Play’n GO return to both this theme and style of game. Just maybe stick to one RTP next time?
